Martha, CYT200

Martha has been practicing yoga on and off for almost twenty years but fell deeper and deeper in love with the practice after having each of her four daughters. Yoga has always been a way for her to reconnect with her body and clear her mind. Becoming a student of the eight limbs of yoga and a personal practice of asana, pranayama and meditation has made her feel like the best version of herself.

Teaching yoga was a dream of Martha’s ever since she became a group fitness instructor in 2016! After using yoga and strength training to recover from major surgery in 2022, she was inspired to begin her yoga teacher training. Martha completed her 250-hour yoga teacher training with Prairie Yoga and is excited to teach in the community. As a yoga teacher, the best part of her day is when students leave the studio feeling mentally and physically better than when they walked in.

In college, Martha was a coxswain for the Marquette men’s rowing team! In rowing when you direct your rowers to lift a boat over their heads you say “up and over heads”, it is the same position as Urdhva Hastasana. She has not been able to break the habit and finds herself saying the same cue in class!
